Our Top Tableau Tips:
#1 - Right click when dragging dimensions or measures into view to bring up context menu:
#Tableau #TipOfTheDay #1: Right click when dragging a dimension or measure into a view to bring up the context menu to choose the aggregation etc. you want as you add it. Particularly useful for dates!

#2: Double click in the rows, columns or marks pane to create inline calculations

If you want to re-use it just drag and drop onto the data pane.
#3: Quickly hide the side bar to give you more space
#Tableau #TipOfTheDay #3: Need more screen space? Quickly hide the side bar using that really obvious ↕️ icon! Need even more space? Use the Show/Hide the marks card to hide what you don't need (notice we have the pages card off as we don't use it often).
#4: Access custom colours from the Edit Colour window
#Tableau #TipOfTheDay #4: Access custom colours in the Edit Colour window by double clicking a colour. Allows you to select the elusive white colour without a custom colour palette! Pick screen colour window is really handy too.

#5: Quickly revert to the last saved version of your workbook
#Tableau #TipOfTheDay #5: Getting into a mess with revisions and versions? Simply click File > Revert To Saved (or press F12) to quickly revert back to the last saved version of the file you're working on!

Very helpful for quick and dirty analysis, or finding diff between a database and a spreadsheet that someone is using for their own tracking (you know the ones)

Boolean calcs are super simple and faster to type out than an if/then in Tableau. [Temperature] > 98.6 will result in either a 0 (false) or 1 (true). Then drag to color, or filter, or etc...

It’s how I would keep myself organized.

After clicking 'alt' some letters in upper strip menu get underlined. Pressing then the chosen underlined letter opens chosen menu part.

Just click on the sheet and then use the menu at the top, or Alt+[letters depend on your language setting]. Allows you to edit tool tips etc from the dashboard view. Saves me so much time and hassle!

And if you then persist the calc (drag to the left for later re-use), you don't need to rename as Tableau will assign your comment as name.
