Our Favourite Tableau Blogs 2021
The best Tableau blogs we think you need to be following in 2021!
There are tons of Tableau, BI and data visualisation blogs out there with new ones coming along all the time. We think they’re a great way of learning, getting ideas and improving your use of Tableau as well as getting to know people in the Tableau Community.
This week for Tableau Tea Break I thought I’d revisit my favourite Tableau blogs and bring you an updated list for 2021!
New for 2021, Looking for a job working with Tableau? Check out our weekly hand curated list of the latest and hottest Tableau opportunities at Tableau Jobs!
No messing about this week, let’s dive straight into the list :)
Tableau Blog
The official Tableau blog went a bit quiet in the middle of last year but the last six months has seen lots of great posts from a variety of contributors. Still one of the best places to keep up with what’s going on in the world of Tableau!
Some of our favourite recent posts include:
The Data School Blog
Still one of the best blogs for picking up hints and tips on Tableau. This is where current Data Schoolers blog about what they’ve learnt both as a trainee consultant and from working with clients and it covers a wide variety of topics with new posts pretty much daily.
Some of our favourite recent posts include:
Tableau Tim
OK, strictly speaking this isn’t a blog as Tim generally produces video tutorials for Tableau but my newsletter my rules! There’s loads of great videos to check out here and I especially like the design of Tim’s new site.
Viz Art Pandey
We’re seeing lots of guest posts lately from a variety of people on Viz Art Pandey which is great. There’s a wide variety of posts on here and quite often focus on principles of design rather than specifically how to do things in Tableau which is really helpful.
Some of our recent favourite posts are:
One Number Blog
Similar to Viz Art Pandey the One Number blog tends to feature posts that help you to think about the process of creating and designing a good visualisation or dashboard as well as looking at other areas related to Tableau such as using SQL. I also really like the consistency with a post being published every week on Thursday.
Posts I’ve enjoyed recently include:
The Information Lab YouTube Channel
Another video channel that we like, this is where The Information Lab share there webinar recordings as well as short how to videos. There’s loads of great videos and tips on here to help you improve your Tableau skills.
Questions In Data Viz
This is another one that seemed to go quite last year but has been posting a lot again recently. We’ve been really enjoying the design tips and posts about the thought process behind vizzes as well as seeing some cool techniques and vizzes.
The Flerlage Twins
There don’t seem to have been as many posts from Kevin & Ken on here as there used to be however there’s still some really cool content such as the new Datafam Finder and proportion plots tutorial. We’ve also seen a few guest posts popping up too which are always interesting to read.
Andy Kriebel YouTube
You may be starting to notice a pattern here that we’re featuring more and more video channels. Video seems to be the most popular medium for sharing content at the moment and we certainly seen an increase in this. Andy’s YouTube channel has been around for a few years and is a great place to get tips on Tableau from his viz review and watch me viz series’
Tableau YouTube Channel
Sticking with the video theme our final entry is the official Tableau YouTube channel. One of my favourite things on here is that they publish the replays from all of the Tableau User Groups from around the world and it’s a great way to be able to see what’s going on at them without having to get up at crazy hours!
Bonus Entry: Tableau Tea Break!
You didn’t think I’d get through this without mentioning my own project did you? Some may say I left the best to last but I’ll leave you to decide on that! :)
This is where I share what’s been going on in the world of Tableau every couple of weeks. I’ve recently been including short how to guides as well as my quick tips and recommended reads. Additionally I’ve started to share stories of how different people got started with Tableau and their Tableau Career Path.
I did start to include Tableau jobs but have since spun that out into a separate project, if you haven’t seen it yet be sure to check out Tableau Jobs!
Thanks for reading!
